This page talks about spells and
rituals. I have included a home protection spell bottle at the bottom of the page as an example using a spell I
have performed. Feel free to use and amend it to suit you. If you would like to share your own
spells or rituals then you can on the forum.
Remember herbs, crystals and other tools
work with you and not for you, so just because you light some candles and say some words, doesn't mean the spell will work
effectively. You should be focused and completely concentrated on the purpose of your spell or ritual. The importance
is in you projecting your intent and visualising your goal. Of course, do not over-think
what you're doing, I am comfortable planning my spells and rituals quite thoroughly, you may prefer improvising if that is how you're comfortable.
Some basics of spells and rituals are
below.
Quite obviously, do not attempt magic
if you do not undertand it. There is a breif explanation on the magic page, but you should buy some reccomended books and have an understanding of what you are doing before you attempt
it.
Some witches cast a circle
before they work to surround them and the area they are going to work in. One way of doing this is to visualise
a protective space or circle surrounding the area you are going to work in. The purpose of this is to defend your
magic from interupting energies. Creating a circle can include envoking the elements, and Deitie(s) if you
wish, into your space to assist you while you work. Simply put, you invite and welcome the elements through visualisation,
and in the process feel their presence joining you. You may light some incense while envoking the element
Air, sprinkle some water when envoking the element Water, light a candle when envoking the
element Fire, and sprinkle some salt when envoking the element Earth. You could light
two candles more when envoking the Deities. Remember none of these physical things are necessary,
but they can help you visualise. Read more about casting a circle here.
Planning your spell or ritual in accordance
with planetary and lunar alignments (moon phases) can increase the power of it. You can plan your
spell or ritual so that you perform it on a date within Saturns orbit if your spell relates to Saturns' correspondences, for
example.
Correspondences can be very important.
Things have magical properties which you can tap into and use in your spell. Correspondences you can use are;
colour (including candles), planetary and moon phases (usually indicating a date and time), herbs (including insence and oils),
crystals, elements, Deities, and direction (facing north,
south, east or west).
Once you have planned how you are going
to perform your spell or ritual, and what correspondences you are going to use and how you are going to include them, it is
useful to remember that when practising magic visualisation and having a strong, clear intent
is key. You should visualise your desire manifesting, other than the road to get there.

Home Protection Bottle
You will need a small glass jar or bottle, a peice
peice of white felt and purple ribbon, Myrrh (resin), Bay, Basil, Sage, Salt, White Willow (bark), Cinnamon (ground), and
one clear quartz cystal.
After creating your magical circle and inviting the elements
and any deities you wish to be present, place your prepared herbs, one after the other, in the glass jar you have –
use your hands to pinch the herb rather than a spoon (well, you don’t have to of course) and repeat the following; “Myrrh,
Bay, Basil, Sage, Salt, Willow, and Cinnamon, protect my home and all within it.”Repeat this for as long as you feel
you should (or until the jar fills up), while visualising the herbs protective energies flowing together and all the time
remembering your intent, then say “So mote it be.” You can now cleanse your crystal in incense smoke
that you may have burning and charge it with your intent to protect your home before you slip it in the top of the jar.
Cut a piece of white felt large enough to cover the top of the jar and wrap the purple ribbon around the neck of the bottle
to seal it. Once you have closed your circle, place this bottle somewhere near
your front door, and it is done.
